Michelle Hairston is a dedicated nurse and passionate advocate for quality, compassionate care and stroke awareness. With over 13 years of nursing experience, she began her career in Med-Surg before spending more than eight years at South Texas Rehabilitation Hospital, where she earned her certification in rehabilitation nursing and discovered her true calling—caring for stroke patients.

While pursuing her master’s in nursing administration, Michelle’s passion for stroke care flourished. In 2021, she became the Stroke Coordinator at Valley Baptist Medical Center, where she played a pivotal role in strengthening the hospital’s stroke program.

In 2024, she embraced a new opportunity as Stroke Coordinator at Valley Regional Medical Center. There, she earned her certification as a Certified Stroke Registered Nurse and is leading efforts to advance the hospital’s stroke program from a Primary Stroke Center to a Comprehensive Stroke Center—an achievement that would make it only the second of its kind in Cameron County.
