Luis Gaitan, MD Neurology
Dr. Gaitan is Neurologist and Neurophysiologist. He has his Private Practice Specializing in Neurology/Neurophysiology at the Brownsville area.
He did graduate as Medical Doctor in 1984 at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Guayaquil, Ecuador.
1990-1992 he did his Internal Medicine Program at Monmouth Medical Center at Long Branch, New Jersey.
1992-1995 Neurology Resident, Department of Neurology at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia
1995 – 1996 Chief Resident, Department of Neurology Emory University School of medicine, Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Gaitan is reported to be a great teacher, always willing to take time to teach the nursing staff. He wants the best for his patients and is willing to take time to help the staff learn how to provide the best stroke care in the Valley. His hard work has resulted in a stroke program that cannot be rivaled south of Austin. So many patients have returned to very fruitful lives due to our stroke program-and this all would not happen without him. His depth of knowledge, his willingness to share that knowledge and his selfless devotion, not only to his patients but to the entire Stroke Program at VBMC and VRMC has not limits.
He is the Stroke Program Director at VBMC and VRH.
He is the president of M.E.C. at South Texas Rehabilitation Hospital.
In 2010 was recognized as the doctor of the year at VBMC.
IN 2016 was the recipient of the Frist Humanitarian Award at VRH.
