Lloyd H. Stegemann, MD, FASMBS, earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Since completing his training in 2003, he has focused his practice on the medical and surgical treatment of obesity and currently leads a busy bariatric practice with more than 5,000 patient visits annually.

Dr. Stegemann serves as Director of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and Director of Robotic Surgery at Bay Area Hospital.   An experienced robotic surgeon, Dr. Stegemann has performed more than 1,300 robotic bariatric operations. He was recognized as a Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation in 2023 and received the Texas Association for Bariatric Surgery Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025.
