Activity Description:
This is a virtual CME-certified educational event designed to address the identified gaps related to identification of geriatric patients presenting with possible hip fracture. The online format will allow for convenient access and thus reach a broad audience of medical professionals. In the next 10 years the U.S. Census Bureau projects adults over 65 will outnumber children for the first time in history. Knowing this, it’s inevitable EMS will experience an increase in response for elderly falls. Coupled with the management of multiple chronic conditions and physical or cognitive limitations, geriatric patients present for increased challenge in assessment and management for pre-hospital providers. The potential for a seemingly innocuous fall to lead to a life threatening condition makes it crucial for EMS providers to stay up to date in knowledge and skill in managing the hip injured patient. This CME will assist pre-hospital providers with gaining knowing in identification, assessment and management of geriatric patients presenting with a hip injury or fracture.
Target Audience:
Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistance, Residents, Medical Students, Emergency Medical Services
Learning Objectives:
