Activity Description:

This educational activity will focus on a structured review of recent sepsis cases, including new fallouts related to SEP-1 compliance, 1-hour antibiotic administration, and the 3-hour bundle. Participants will analyze case timelines from initial presentation to completion of care, highlighting criteria met and opportunities for improvement. In addition to reviewing challenging cases the session will also provide focused education on the pathophysiology of sepsis, its impact on organ systems, and variations in clinical presentations across different patient populations. Lessons learned will support improved clinical decision-making, adherence to sepsis protocols, and enhanced patient outcomes.

Target Audience: 

Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Radiology, Dermatology, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Plastic Surgeons, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants

  • Describe evidence-based treatment strategies for managing patients with sepsis.
  • Explain CMS standards and SEP-1 requirements for sepsis management. 
  • Identify patient risk factors associated with developing sepsis.
  • Recognize early clinical criteria and warning signs of sepsis.
