These courses are intended for internal hospital staff.

Activity Description:

This is a virtual CME-certified educational intervention designed to address the identified gaps in the evaluation and treatment of the Hypotensive Trauma Patient in the Pre-hospital Setting. Among the principal vital signs, blood pressure offers medical providers valuable insight into certain aspects of their patients' clinical status, such as intravascular volume and degree of hemorrhagic shock (Damme CD, Luo J, Buesing KL, Isolated prehospital hypotension correlates with injury severity and outcomes in patients with trauma, Trauma Surgery & Acute Care Open 2016;1:e000013. doi: 10.1136/tsaco-2016-000013). Hypotension in trauma patients typically occurs after loss of 30% of total blood and, if persistent, can lead to end-organ injury resulting from hypoperfusion and uncompensated shock (J Trauma 2010 Jun; 68:1289). This hybrid format allows for convenient access and thus reach a broad audience of medical professionals. Continuous education needs of EMS staff to keep current on management and assessment of various medical problems that can/will happen. Discuss up to the minute EMS news, review articles and utilize best practices in managing urgent care and critical patients. Increase knowledge for all EMS staff on situations that have occurred and to increase health care providers awareness on guidelines and procedures.
