Activity Description:

This presentation aims to equip medical professionals with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively manage difficult-to-treat gram-negative infections. It will cover the recommendations provided in the IDSA 2023 Guidance on the Treatment of Antimicrobial Resistant Gram-Negative Infections.  This will encompass commonly encountered treatment questions and the corresponding suggested treatment approaches for 6 antimicrobial resistant gram-negative infections, including extended-spectrum β-lactamase producing Enterobacterales, AmpC β-lactamase producing Enterobacterales, Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales, Pseudomonas aeruginosa with difficult-to-treat resistance, Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii, and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia. This guidance applies to both adult and pediatric populations.

Target Audience: 

This course is designed for hospitalists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, advance practice nurses, registered nurses, allied health professionals, physicians and residents.

Learning Objectives:

  • Familiarize with the IDSA 2023 Guidance on the Treatment of Antimicrobial Resistant Gram-Negative Infections

  • Understand the significance of antimicrobial resistance in gram-negative infections

  • Identify six antimicrobial resistant gram-negative infections

  • Explore the evidence-based treatment recommendations of antimicrobial resistant gram-negative infections

  • Apply these newly developed guidelines with patient cases
