Activity Description:

The purpose of the Morbidity and Mortality conference is to provide a safe venue for Wesley Medical staff to identify areas in improvement, and promote professionalism, ethical integrity and transparency in assessing and improving patient care. Discuss cases of adverse outcome which will provide lessons in terms of cognitive, systematic or equipment errors. The discussion and analysis of the event(s) at the M&M conference contribute to a broader workflow, to establish and propose more effective guidelines in patient care.

Target Audience: 

Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Colorectal Surgeons, Pathologists, Gastroenterologists, Pharmacists, Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Dietitians, Athletic Trainers, Patient Care Facilitators and all other personnel involved in the care of the patient.

Learning Objectives:

1. Recognize when process improvement is needed.

2. Make steps/outline a plan for process improvement.

3. Interpret the adverse event as a learning opportunity.
