Activity Description:
Schwartz Center Rounds are a multidisciplinary forum where caregivers discuss difficult emotional and social issues that arise in caring for patients. A case is presented by a panel of healthcare professionals representing multiple disciplines and points of view. A facilitator then engages the audience in an interactive discussion about the case and participants’ shared experiences.
Target Audience:
Physicians, Psychologists, Podiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists, Respiratory Therapists, Dieticians, Nursing and all other interested healthcare providers
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:
- Apply the lessons to improve teamwork, interdisciplinary communication and appreciation for the roles and contributions of colleagues from different disciplines
- Increase insight into the social and emotional aspects to patient care, compassion towards patients, and readiness to respond to patients' and families' needs
- Create more openness to giving and receiving support while decreasing feelings of stress and isolation
