Sepsis in Pregnancy

Appropriate management of patients with sepsis in pregnancy is a vital component needed to mitigate negative outcomes to the mother and baby. Maternal sepsis is a significant cause of maternal morbidity and mortality and is a preventable cause of maternal death. This course will highlight and  examine what is known about sepsis and will summarize and provide guidance in regard to managing sepsis in pregnancy and the postpartum period. Understanding patients at risk of sepsis and cultivating an awareness of how to manage these patients is vital to equipping providers with the ability to best address the needs of this patient population.
