9th Annual Corey Pittman PreHospital Symposium
The 9th Annual Corey Pittman Prehospital Symposium is a one-day conference focused on providing evidence based, best practice clinical education to prehospital and emergency department providers. This year the symposium is focusing the educational content on the theme of "Breath". Presentations and breakout sessions will be centered around the concepts of airway and ventilation management in the prehospital environment. This year's symposium will begin with dynamic, interactive presentations followed by hands-on breakout sessions in our high-fidelity simulation center all with the aim of providing a curriculum attendees can immediately apply to the to their clinical practice.
Target Audience
The target audience(s) for 8th Annual Corey Pittman Symposium are Pre-Hospital Providers (Paramedics, Critical Care and Flight Paramedics, Flight Nurses) as well as Emergency Room Providers (Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistance, Residents, Medical Students).
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify resources for improving prehospital burn assessment regarding accuracy of BSA as well as burn depth. Provide the latest in evidence-based practice for initial burn resuscitation protocols.
- Increase prehospital provider knowledge of the GCS scoring system and provide better definition of different scoring indicators. Reinforce the importance of GCS as a triage tool for trauma designation and why accuracy in scoring is significant. Provide case studies for attendees to practice GCS scoring.
- Describe to prehospital and emergency room providers the rising maternal mortality health crisis. Increase prehospital provider awareness to factors contributing to the rise in maternal death. Provide tools and resources for providers for assessment and intervention.
- Summarize EMS systems, safety/well-being of the EMS provider, and medical/legal and ethical issues, which is intended to improve the health of EMS personnel, patients, and the community.
